Not a Redneck...I swear.

Woo Hoo...it's Daytona weekend!

Been waiting since last November for this weekend. Since Mark Martin announced his return from semi-retirement I've been very excited about the start of the 2009 season. Maybe this will be his year for not only a Daytona win, but a championship as well.

Yikes....I plumb forgot about this thing!`

OK...my bad! I started this out with a lot of good intentions, but here I am with a blog and no entries for the last...well too many months.

I pledge to do better this time...cough...cough...no one is reading this anyhow. :-)

Video of the Day

This is simply the best flight simulator video I've ever seen.

It's Woot-Off Friday!

One of my favorite one-item-for-sale-a-day sites it Woot.com. Today they are having one of their woot-offs. Basically, rather than having just one item for sale today, they'll keep putting new items up when the previous item sells out.

Some great deals can be had...check it out here.

My latest gaming obsessions

I'm currently playing in 2 new pre-order betas, Hellgate London and Team Fortress 2. Due to non-disclosure agreements, or actually my lack of knowledge of their content, I won't go into too much detail. But, l'm sure the developers won't mind if I gush a bit about each.

Hellgate London
I was (and still am) a huge Diablo fan, both the first and second iterations. I've been waiting patiently for a replacement for that game way too long. Sure, there's been Sacred and Titan Quest, both very good action RPGs, but I believe Hellgate London to be the true successor. Created by many of the same guys that worked on D2, I have very high hopes that this one will really do it for me. I'll post more on this when the NDA lifts and the actual game ships.

Team Fortress 2

If you know anything about Team Fortress Classic, released way back during the years following the original Half Life release, you already know what Team Fortress 2 is all about, online co-op play. TF2 is probably the one and only online FPS I can actually do fairly well in. At my age, trying to run and gun just doesn't work anymore. I end up being more of a easy kill then helping out my team. The support classes (medic and engineer) offer me the chance to contribute without need for lightening fast reflexes. There's no doubt that this game will be a huge hit and one of my personal favorites for quite some time. Once the game goes live, I'll post more.

Insane RC Pilot

Not only is this plane very large and realistic, the pilot demonstrates some amazing piloting skills.

Taladega this weekend

For you racing fans, this one is a no-brainer. We all know why we watch the races at Taladega and Daytona, we want to see the "Big One". I'm sure this weekend will not disappoint. The only question will be which of the chasers will get taken out.

With my boy Mark Martin no longer running a full time schedule, I've been having a hard time getting excited about any of those in the final chase. I'll admit though that I'm sort of pulling for Jeff Gordon. I used to really dislike the guy, but I've warmed up to him in the last few years. I love big come backs and seeing him one another chamionship would be cool.

Here's a schedule of the weekend NASCAR events:

Friday [All on Speed Channel, All times ET]
Nextel Cup Practice: 12:00 - 1:00
Craftsman Truck Qualifying: 1:00 - 2:30
Nextel Final Practice: 3:30 - 4:30

Saturday [Truck on Speed, Nextel on ABC, All times ET]
Craftsman Truck Mountain Dew 250: 4:00 - 6:30
